Facilities have traditionally hesitated offering an inmate voice mail system because of the lack of system capabilities and security concerns. Because of this, one-way phone calls are still the primary form of communication in many facilities. If a call is placed and the called party does not answer, communication is not possible and the call is terminated. Limited communication with friends and family members have a direct effect on the potential for successful rehabilitation. Lack of communication options also generates complaints and affects facility operational efficiencies. Securus’ patented Voice Mail Messaging program is one of the first voice mail programs to provide facilities with secure inbound and outbound voice mail contact capabilities.
